Integrating LEGAL Immigrants

Though much debate in our country is focused on illegal immigration, some are looking to the need for migration policies that will benefit legal immigrants and the broader U.S. society alike.

A new report suggests that, given

  • the size of today’s immigration flows,
  • the pressure the globalizing, “flat-world” economy is placing on U.S. communities, and
  • our aging native-born workforce,

the public and private sectors should devote far more attention to the integration of legal immigrants into U.S. classrooms, workplaces and civic life.

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa has said: “The skills and energy of immigrants and their children will help our society weather the retirement of the Baby Boom generation and meet the challenges of the changing world economy.”

We believe Christian churches should rise above the (important and necessary) legal and economic debates, to do all we can to extend God’s love and message of salvation to all souls coming to our shores.

"…Sing to the Lord, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day.
Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.” Psalm 96:2,3 NIV

“May mercy and peace and love be multiplied to you.” Jude 2 NASB
