About the Worship On The Way Radio Network:

Gary Curtis, Vice President and General Manager

Dear Friends:

This is a nostalgic note, which I’m writing to hundreds of friends, who have actively supported our radio ministry, over many years. Your gifts have been very special and significant to us, as we have broadcast worship music and ministry features 24 hours a day—there where you live, work and “worship on the way.”

The early believers were originally called “followers of the Way” (Acts 24:14-16), being those who worshipped Jesus, Who said He was “the Way, the Truth, and the Life” (John 14: 6). This worship and ministry have been available to you “on the way”—as you drove to work, prepared for spiritual service at your church, or as you became better equipped for all that God has intended for you!

As you may know, we began broadcasting from our flagship station, KTLW-FM in Lancaster, California, and just one FM translator above the San Fernando Valley, on July 3, 1997. In the 18 years since then, we added over a dozen translator stations in five states. Two years ago, we expanded to two formats, seeking to also reach out to a younger generation. We sought to consistently communicate the love of God and the true joy of Spirit-filled Christian living, believing that God’s truth, proclaimed in this positive way, would prepare many listeners to be drawn to Christ, edified and equipped to serve Him.

Our vision has been that:

  • Our network would serve as a “sound alternative” for spiritually sensitive listeners
  • Believers would become disciples and fellow-laborers in God’s harvest, and
  • Disciples and fellow-laborers would want to support the broadcast ministry and multiply the blessings to others.

Friends, your prayers and gifts have been vital factors in affirming and sustaining that vision. I cannot thank you enough!

However, our board has come to acknowledge that—for us—the future needs to belong to new, modern means and methods, which are innovative, informative, and inspirational to today’s generation. They have concluded that we need to “say goodbye” to broadcasting and pass our mantle of radio ministry on to others. Consequently, we now plan to conclude our legacy of broadcasting, as of Friday, July 3rd—18 years to the day since we began.

Needless to say, these have been difficult decisions—for both our leadership and our broadcast team. Pastor Tim Clark, who serves as the senior pastor of The Church on the Way (Van Nuys) and the chairman of our board, shared a very significant sermon recently (United Across Generations, May 17, 2015), which I urge you to watch on the church’s website—http://www.tcotw.org. It gives a profound perspective to the challenges of our day and the changes we need to be willing to make, if we are to be effective extenders of the Kingdom of God, even to  “…generations yet unborn” (Psalm 78:5-7).

While this announcement may be hard for some to receive, I’m sure you can recognize that “nothing is forever”—except Jesus, Who is “the same yesterday, and today, and forever” (Heb. 13:8).  He said that He (and we) must do the “works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work” (John 9:4). So, let us accept these decisions, as part of the dynamic of the “new and living way” (Heb. 10:20), which our Lord has consecrated and called us to walk in, at this time.

As we live out these final weeks with you, I still need to invite you, as I have each month of our ministry, to stand with us in covering our daily operating expenses. We want to provide music and ministries to you, faithfully—to the very last hour. As with all the prior months, we need your consistent giving, to make that possible. Please help us finish strong! Every gift, large or small, is still needed and very appreciated!

As always, thank you for your prayers and partnership. We could not have done this vital radio ministry without you!

Serving our Risen Lord, with you!

P.S. We are planning a very special final program to air on July 3rd. You will hear more about it and learn of the time—on air and on our website—so you can be sure to listen. After that, listeners to KTLW in the Antelope Valley, plus three key translators—88.9 FM serving Canyon Country plus 91.9 FM serving the northern San Fernando, Simi and Santa Clarita Valleys and Hollywood/West L.A.—will enjoy the Air1 format from Educational Media Foundation, perhaps the premiere contemporary Christian music source in America!
