| Birthing a Palestinian Arab State |
President Bush has defined the “Road Map” for Israel, the West Bank and Gaza as being “two states, Israel and Palestine, living side-by-side in peace and security.” It is important to remember that these disputed territories were never a Palestinian state. They were part of the British Mandate following World War I and were promised to be part of Israel when the Mandated territory was divided up into new nations for Arabs and Jews. Jordan was to be the home of the “Palestinians.” After the Arabs declared war on the new nation of Israel in 1948, Israel prevailed over much of the promised land. However, the area we know as Gaza and the West Bank was unlawfully “occupied” by Egypt and Jordan for nearly two decades. These Arab brothers never attempted to make a Palestinian state in the “disputed territories.” Rather they have used the half-century old issues as an excuse for breeding hatred and murder. Unfortunately, while President Bush asserts that achieving the “worthy goal” of birthing a Palestinian Arab state would “remove an excuse for hatred and violence in the broader Middle East,” popular Arab terrorist-leaders continue to vow to carry on the violence until all Israel again lies under the thumb of Islam. |
