Happy Resurrection Day
spacebar

I was out in the car and passed a florist delivery van. In the passenger’s seat was a grown man dressed in a rabbit costume! Evidently, to the florist company, this was the logical attire to identify with our secular concepts of Easter.

Easter is supposed to be the most sacred of Christian celebrations—the day we rejoice at the resurrection of our Lord and Savior from the dead. And that is the basis for my beef with the bunny.

Although the Easter bunny may seem like a harmless bit of springtime fluff, in truth, it diverts our attention from the centrality of the resurrection and dilutes our message of repentance and reconciliation.

The resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead is the cornerstone of Christian truth. It is essential for salvation. Romans 10:9 says, “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

The reality of Easter is not rabbits—but the resurrection! Happy Resurrection Day!

Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.” Psalm 96:2,3 NIV
