Helping to Heal the HIV/AIDS Pandemic

The global HIV/AIDS pandemic has already infected over 40 million people. To-date, more than 25 million have died, leaving 15 million orphans in Africa alone.

With AIDS killing 8,000 people a day, Pastor Rick Warren and his wife Kay, of the Saddleback Valley Community Church in Southern California, believe being “pro-life” is more than being anti-abortion, but also actively responding in Christian love and concern to the HIV/AIDs pandemic. His church is seeking to help marshal the policy of the government; the finances of business; the expertise of the health organizations; and the compassion, volunteerism and reach of the church in order to care for the sick and save lives.

He has developed an acrostic that reveals behavioral practices to S.T.O.P. the pandemic:

S-Save sex for marriage;
T-Train men to treat women and children with respect;
O-Offer treatment through churches;
P-Pledge yourself to one partner—for life.

This biblical and ethical stance is consistent with the Harvard landmark study on abstinence and faithfulness to one's spouse as the best prevention against AIDS.

KTLW continues to stand with those who are pro-life, pro-family, and pro-religious liberties. We urge our listeners to follow our Lord’s example and show compassion for all who are sick in soul and body.

"…Sing to the Lord, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day.
Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.” Psalm 96:2,3 NIV

“May mercy and peace and love be multiplied to you.” Jude 2 NASB
