The Iraq Study Group felt compelled to declare that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is the main cause of violence and instability in the whole Middle East. What they failed to acknowledge is that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is ideological and not regional. Establishment of a Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders will not end the conflict any more than Israel giving up Gaza brought peace to the region. Palestinians continue to shoot missiles into civilian areas in Israel because their Muslim ministers preach an ideology of hatred, racism and violence. The Palestinians enjoy playing perpetual victims. And now James Baker and his happy band of enablers want Israel to give them more concessions and more land, forgetting that the school-yard bully, left unaccountable for his bad behavior, becomes a repeat offender. |
