Keep Jerusalem United

As the new year dawns, we can expect the United Nations, the European Union, and the Arab countries to intensify their rhetoric to wrest control of the united city of Jerusalem from the State of Israel.

Since the State of Israel liberated its capital from Jordanian occupiers nearly four full decades ago (in 1967), Jerusalem has been an open and safe city for pilgrims, visitors, and tourists from all faiths. This is a sharp change from the 1948-1967 period when the Jewish Quarter was leveled and Christians were heavily restricted in their access to Jerusalem’s Holy Sites.

We must pray and do all we can to influence public and political opinion to keep Jerusalem accessible to Christians and Jews. If we do nothing, Jerusalem is bound to suffer the fate of Bethlehem, where an ancient Christian community is disappearing due to oppression and persecution by Palestinians overlords.
