A Moral Mandate

The unprecedented voter turnout at the polls last Tuesday was a victory for mainstream America.  So-called "Values Voters" made it clear that while the economy and national security are important concerns, moral issues took precedence when it came to determining the leadership and direction of our country -- at the national, state and many local levels.

With the passage of state amendments defining a marriage between one man and one woman passing in 11 states on Tuesday, and a total of 16 states over the past few months, it seems clear that the choice is not about tolerance, but about clearly defining the moral infrastructure of our society. Americans are tolerant, but they do not want moral traditions and definitions dismantled and the liberal agenda imposed via legislation.

May we continue to faithfully pray for our leaders, as the Bible instructs us, and do all we can to encourage them to pursue this “moral mandate” with conviction, clarity, and compassion.

"…Sing to the Lord, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day.
Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.” Psalm 96:2,3 NIV

“May mercy and peace and love be multiplied to you.” Jude 2 NASB
