| Palestinians Fail to Promote Peace |
The West has hailed Palestinian presidential frontrunner Mahmoud Abbas as a “moderate” interested in halting the four-year terrorist war against Israel’s civilian population. But his actions and words since Yasser Arafat’s death have belied the international community’s view of him. Running unopposed, he recently declared the terrorist killers of Jewish men, women and children were “neither criminals nor murderers. Rather they are fighting for the honorable lives of their Palestinians brothers.” Rather than promote peace and tolerance, as they agreed to do in the Oslo Accords, the Palestinian Authority has continued to use half-century old issues as an excuse for breeding hatred and violence in their children and culture. Terrorists’ atrocious attempts to maim or murder innocent civilians must be condemned by a civilized, watching world. Israel’s former Prime Minister Golda Meier once said that the Middle East will see peace only “when Arabs love their children more than they hate Israel.” |
