STEM CELL SCAM

Contemporary proponents of government’s funding for embryonic stem cell research are scamming voters by not referring to this embryonic experimentation for what it is: the cloning of human embryos—following the same techniques that produced Dolly, the sheep. The resulting human clone would be destroyed in order to harvest the stem cells which researchers prize.

Many bioethics researchers and religious leaders say such an embryo outside the womb is still human life and it is simply morally wrong to destroy a human embryo for its parts! Current embryonic stem cell research has been plagued by tumors, tissue rejection, and genetic instability. In contrast, there are 45 diseases and medical conditions being treated “right now” using adult stem cell therapies. 

Rather than pursuing stem cell research that is fraught with social problems and is morally abhorrent to many, let’s use government funding for adult stem cell research and therapies that are resulting in real remedies right now!
