Therapeutic Cloning

Researchers at South Korea's Seoul National University recently announced that they had found a way to clone multiple human embryos: eleven this time, possibly more in the future. Meanwhile, in an upcoming movie, The Island, is said to depict the creation of a class of human beings whose sole purpose is to provide the rest of us with spare body parts.

To his credit, President Bush has courageously promised to veto any bill that would create human life only to kill it for supposed scientific research.

Lost in most news releases about “therapeutic cloning” to provide the rest of us with spare body parts, are some inconvenient facts. Listen closely: To date, there have been no clinical trials and no therapies produced by embryonic stem-cell research. On the other hand, there have been more than 250 clinical trials using adult stem cells. These trials have produced several score positive therapies and treatments, all without killing human life.
KTLW believes we need to support the president's policy and work to educate Congress--and our increasingly secular society--that human life is sacred, not something to be manufactured, used, and thrown away!
